Layups: New David Robinson Mix

I don't typically link directly to YouTube vids, but here's a brand new mix from KBlaze, one the net's best mixmakers, celebrating the highlights of The Admiral, David Robinson. D-Rob is one of our favorites here at the blog because his numbers were simply off the charts at his peak in 1993-94 & 1994-95. Yes, Hakeem did him dirty in the playoffs, but because he was on the wrong end of a few Dream Shake highlights (which I would challenge anyone to stop, btw) we don't think he's been treated fairly by the general public over the past 15 years. So here's to you, Mr. Robinson:
(Bonus points for old-school Craig Sager footage at the beginning, too. Didn't know that guy owned a suit that wasn't ridiculous...)

I agree 100%. If he could have skipped out on those couple of seasons with the Navy is career numbers would have been that much greater. IMO Robinson > Ewing, but if feel most people would place it the other way around (NY bias).

I love KBlaze! Used to post on the ISH message board with him and he was always entertaining and intelligent, and he has the best mixes.
Bradlee - I think that opinion is changing as metrics make it more and more apparent just how special the Admiral really was. If you could give Ewing any edge it would pretty much have to be intangible - along the lines of leadership / toughness, etc. - because Robinson's stats for the era are second only to MJ. Otherwise I guess you could say the Ewing played a more disciplined style and more back to the basket ball that let the Knicks run that conservative post and kick offense more easily, but I'm not sure that's really true, and basically it's just making excuses. Even the SRS argument favors Robinson.

Too true, Neil! Plus, "The Admirable Admiral" as we like to call him in France is as great off the court as he was on the hardwood, so what's not to like?
